Our long weekend for Labor Day has passed.  The tops of the trees are starting to change color now, and that means winter is around the corner.  It also means increased risks of property damage and liability claims involving your home and car, so now is the perfect time to visit us to review your insurance coverage.

Your Auto Insurance

Although Minnesota might have the best mandatory auto insurance law in the country, most of our clients drive on something more than minimum coverage. Then there's that other segment of society that ignores the law and other people too.  They drive without any insurance at all.   At Value Plus, we believe that the interests of our clients are best served if they're able to obtain affordable full coverage at maximum available limits.  Full coverage means more security for you and your family, especially if one of you is involved in an accident caused by an uninsured,  under-insured or hit-and-run driver.

Your Homeowners Insurance

For many people, buying a home is the single largest investment that they'll ever make.  Building a home isn't getting any cheaper either.  That's why you want to check your policy annually against building costs.   In the event of a loss by fire, explosion, a tornado or other covered risk, the cost of rebuilding your home is likely to be higher than its current market value.  Don't forget about your personal property inside your of home either.  We all accumulate more personal property every year,  and some of it might be quite valuable. Talk to us about upgrading to replacement cost of personal property without deducting for depreciation as opposed to receiving actual cash value with depreciation when personal property is damaged or destroyed by a covered risk.  Some people might even want special coverage endorsements for certain high value items like jewelry, furs or artwork.

Umbrella Insurance

Once you've upgraded your auto and homeowners insurance, you're eligible for umbrella coverage that provides you with an extra layer of liability protection.  It comes in increments of $1 million up to $5 million, and it's surprisingly inexpensive.  A few seconds of distracted driving could result in a catastrophic claim by somebody that you hit.  Don't put everything that you and your family have at risk.

At Value Plus, we service the Twin Cities and all of Minnesota.  Call us at 952-435-0550 this fall, and we'll be pleased to review your your insurance coverage with you.  Remember, winter is around the corner, and risk increases.
